Now is the time for small businesses to flourish. As buyers, or customers, we need the personal attention that small businesses offer. We turn away from the companies that treat us, like just another number.

You could save a lot of money, by changing the way you think, and maybe working from home. Keep all your communication over Email, Skype, or Online Video Conferencing.

2. Create your brand, and keep it real.

Its quite simple, you are your own brand, and you only as good, as your last project.

When you create a brand, you need to live your brand. You need to use every opportunity you can, to advertise your brand. You need to be prepared to take chances, and you need to be prepared to fail. In the end you will succeed.

3. Forget about the money, and focus on your clients needs.

Its hard to explain passion to someone who has never worked for themselves. When you work for yourself, you don’t earn a salary. You need to spend money to make money, and you land up living from month, to month. Sometimes, when we are desperate for money, we forget to focus on whats important, and we forget why we started our own business. When things get tough, its a good time to go back to the basics, and to realize your core values.

4. Offer great value for money.

I don’t know about you, but when the economy takes strain, I hold onto my money a little bit tighter. I need to believe that im getting great value for money, and I don’t like being ripped off. Take the time, to explain your products, to your clients. Spend your money wisely, and think of the long term.

5. Offer reliable support.

Keep in contact with your clients. Be there when they need you. Respect is something earned, its not just given to you. You need to earn the respect of your clients.
